Foreman – Heavy Civil / Concrete Structures

We're hiring an experienced Foreman to lead crews on an upcoming heavy civil project involving concrete foundation work, MSE wall construction, and pipe diversion works. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing mobilization through to project completion.

Project Scope Includes

Site mobilization/demobilization

Subgrade improvement and lean mix (mud slab) concrete

Concrete foundation walls on strip footings (35 MPa)

SUPER-COR structural plate installation and backfill

MSE wall panel placement, backfill, coping, and concrete collar work

Weeping tile and drainage installation

Safety rail systems (City of Calgary Parks standard)

Survey/layout coordination

Headwall construction

HDPE 900mm DR17 pipe diversion (fused pipe placement)

Concrete painting/sealing

Winter conditions work (cold weather concrete/backfill practices)

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily field operations across multiple work packages (concrete, MSE wall, pipe, earthworks)

Read and interpret drawings, specs, and survey layout to ensure accurate execution

Manage crew scheduling, productivity, and in office safety compliance

Coordinate with subcontractors, surveyors,



and project management

Ensure quality control on concrete pours, MSE wall installation, and pipe fusion/placement

Enforce site safety standards, including City of Calgary Parks requirements

Manage material deliveries, equipment needs, and winter work protocols

Track daily progress and report to project superintendent/PM

Requirements

5+ years supervisory experience in heavy civil construction

Experience with MSE wall systems, structural concrete, and pipe installation preferred

Strong knowledge of concrete placement and cold-weather concreting practices

Familiarity with HDPE pipe fusion an asset

Valid driver's license; construction safety tickets (CSTS, First Aid, etc.)

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Comfortable working outdoors in variable/winter conditions
