This position can be based out of any of the following locations: Coquitlam, Prince George or Vernon. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Part-time hours may be considered, if requested.

Forensic Psychologist

$106,185.97 - $135,238.32 annually, ($58.14 -$74.05 hourly)

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach and ancillary services to collaboratively support young people, families and communities. The Maples provides services for young people aged 7 – 17 struggling with severe and enduring mental health challenges as well as young people found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or Unfit to Stand Trial under the Criminal Code of Canada & Youth Criminal Justice Act. Additional services include community consultation service, training/capacity building opportunities and ongoing sharing of current literature.

Through a multi-disciplinary approach, our objective is to collaboratively enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging young people through a closer to home focus.

The Forensic Psychologist provides formalized assessments for young people with severe mental health challenges. These assessments provide diagnostic clarification,



which is required for evidence informed treatment. Assessments are also helpful for the young person to access supports through community, children and youth with support needs (CYSN) and Community Living BC (CLBC).

In this role, you will also complete assessments and reports for the BC Review Board (Criminal Code of Canada) and for the BC Mental Health Act Review Board.

Qualifications for this role include:

- Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or PsyD.
- Completion of a psychological pre-or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses, and treatment of mental health disorders.
- Minimum of one year full time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychology and Forensic Psychology.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
- Registered (or in the process of being registered) with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC) as a Psychologist.
