Location: Transit Clark Facility
- The candidate will be responsible for the daily supervision of vehicle maintenance staff and equipment, answering staff questions, providing on-the-job training and delivering clear instructions. The candidate will motivate employees, mediate and investigate the root causes of conflicts, and schedule and coordinate staff activities to support efficient operations while ensuring staff accountability, adherence to standards and full regulatory compliance.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reporting on a wide range of performance indicators, including completing and submitting Ministry of Transportation Inspections and Drive Clean program requirements, following up on and reporting Joint Health and Safety inspections and issues, and managing records for accident damage, warranty, manufacturer recalls, Transport Canada recalls and WSIB forms.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership through the creation of programs, schedules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for staff. The candidate will keep SOPs and equipment current to maximize productivity while maintaining standards and safety, arrange services with outside suppliers for just-in-time repair parts and services,
and oversee spare parts inventory through a stockroom with perpetual inventory and procurement.
- The candidate will be responsible for recommending changes to on-site procedures to address regulatory changes, such as safety requirements, and meet customer service expectations.
The candidate will identify team training and development needs and communicate them to the Supervisor.
- The candidate will be responsible for regularly sharing information with the Supervisor and others, assisting with budget preparation and setting financial controls, representing the function at meetings and committees as required, providing information for RFQs and RFPs, and responding to questions from internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a minimum high school (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent.
- The candidate must hold an Ontario Motor Vehicle Mechanics Licence, class 310T.
- The candidate will be required to have 2 years of experience in a Vehicle Maintenance environment, with Heavy Duty Vehicles experience preferred, and 2 years of experience as a team lead or supervisor in a unionized environment preferred.
- The candidate must have positive working knowledge of automotive and heavy truck parts.
- The candidate must be able to understand and document procedures (SOPs) in the English language.
- The candidate should have knowledge of Health & Safety (i.e. WHMIS) regulations and other applicable legislation, such as the Highway Traffic Act, which is an asset.
- The candidate must have the ability to use a PC and Microsoft Office.
- The candidate will be required to execute a written employment agreement as a condition of employment.
