We're building the first AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) platform built for healthcare. When a patient asks ChatGPT or Gemini "who's the best oncologist near me," a health system either shows up in the answer or it doesn't, and today almost none of them know why.

Inlets diagnoses that gap and fixes it. We're past the demo stage: customers in the product, a pilot starting with a 25,000+ employee US health system, and a sales pipeline that has picked up quite quickly over the last month.

We're a small founding team, and we're looking to add an engineer who owns the application end to end.

Where you'd fit

We're a small founding team split between Vancouver and Toronto. Engineering would be split between two people for now as we continue to grow our team:

- Our ML engineer owns the agents: the diagnosis agent that figures out why a hospital is not appearing in AI answers and the solution agents to solve the problems found in the diagnosis agent.
- You would own everything the agents run on and everything customers see: the application itself, GCP and Cloud Run, the engineering workflow, production reliability, and the architectural calls.

You'd collaborate with the CEO, Product lead and the ML Engineer to understand the short term and long term needs in order to set us up for success.

What you'd actually do

Build the product.

Most weeks, this is the majority of the job. Recent work: a recent feature in the product that shows users which sites AI models cite the most, an Action Center that displays the user needs to do to improve their AI visibility.

Own the infrastructure.

Our agents run as Cloud Run jobs on GCP. We’ve built a system that is able to handle our queue so far but as we sign on more customers, we’ll need you to help us scale.

Build the engineering foundations.

Test coverage, CI, deploy safety, branch protection.



We've kept process deliberately light in order to ship, and we're now at the point where there's enough product and enough customers that it's worth investing time to strengthen the foundation.

Partner with our ML engineer.

Our ML Engineer builds the agents, and you’ll work with them to build everything they run on and how the user interacts with the agents in the application.

Your opinions matters.

We're a small team. We’re looking for a thought partner, someone who will help us understand the effort involved and what should or shouldn’t be in scope at different stages.

What we're looking for

- You've built and run a production application at roughly this scale. Full-stack. Backend, infrastructure, deployments, and enough frontend to ship a feature end to end.

- You're comfortable on GCP. Cloud Run specifically is a bonus. If your cloud experience is AWS and you're happy to port it over, say so. We're not religious about it.

- You're pragmatic about shipping. We care about shipping value quickly and are okay with going back to polish later.

- You've worked somewhere small. Early-stage startup, founding team, or a scrappy team inside something bigger. You know what it's like when there's no platform team, no QA, and no one to escalate to.

- You're comfortable working with LLM / AI systems. You don't need to be an ML engineer. But parts of our product involve calling models. Understanding and being able to iterate on prompts because a model is not producing the results we want will be important.

What you should know

- You'd be the only engineer whose full attention is on the application. Real ownership, direct impact on our product, company and customers.

- Our process is light. We've optimized for shipping. Building the foundations properly is part of the job, and you'll lead what that looks like.

- We work remotely by default. The team is split between Vancouver and Toronto. This role is remote anywhere in Canada.
