ABOUT YOU

DUTIES

- Teach classes, workshops, camps, and parties for kids, teens, and adults
- Teach and use a range of mediums and techniques including pottery, sculpture, painting, and more, as well as art history
- Follow pre-planned curriculum and have students produce high quality artwork
- Maintain the studio space through cleaning, tidying, and organizing artwork and supplies
- Artwork aftercare such as kiln-firing clay, glazing ceramics, varnishing paintings, etc.
- Make sales by informing customers about our current offerings, taking class bookings, and selling retail
- Computer administration such as answering emails, answering phone calls, editing class lists & bookings, updating registrations, etc.

As a manager you will be in charge of ensuring that daily tasks are completed to a high standard. You will sometimes work shifts with the studio owner, and at other times will be working solo, or with teachers under your supervision.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

- Experience teaching or working with children in group settings
- Ability to effectively and confidently communicate and engage with students of all ages (from age 2 to adults)
- English language must be fluent & strong for speaking, reading, and writing.




- Excellent customer service skills to engage with visitors
- Strong organizational skills to label, track, and organize artwork and art supplies
- Positive, adaptable, and able to work at a fast pace
- Flexible to seasonal changes in curriculum, schedule, and systems
- Attention to detail in all areas - ability to clean thoroughly every day to maintain a clean and safe workspace, taking care with artworks to optimize results for students

- Experience working with different art mediums and techniques

HOURS

This position is not appropriate for students as we need full-time flexibility.

40 hours per week: shifts will vary seasonally and depending on bookings and studio needs; shifts could take place anytime Mon - Sun 8:30am - 10pm. Shifts are scheduled 3 months ahead and will be consistent during that time period before potentially changing again the following season (except for occasional shift switching with other staff or covering classes due to vacation etc.).

e.g. Wed - Fri 1:30pm - 10pm, Sat - Sun 10:30am - 7pm e.g. Mon -Fri 8:30am - 5pm e.g. Sat - Wed 12:30pm - 9pm

TRAINING

Training will be provided in all areas, including teaching methods, art mediums (pottery, painting, drawing, etc.), studio systems, kiln-firing, cleaning, management, etc.

While having experience with art mediums is a bonus,



it is not essential as we can teach you! As long as you have some basic artistic skill, and an eagerness to learn.

We prioritize experience working with PEOPLE - whether it's teaching, hosting, customer service, etc. if you are confident speaking and assisting group of people of all ages, and are capable of completing studio tasks and cleaning, we will provide training with all the specifics of the role.

*Working in an art studio involves a LOT of cleaning!

NOTE FROM OWNER

We are an independent art studio in the heart of Edgemont Village, and we partner with 4Cats Arts Studios for our curriculum. We're a family run business, and are currently looking to expand our team with this new role of studio manager. Our classes are getting busy, and we'd like to expand our studio hours and offerings.

We're looking for someone to oversee the day-to-day happenings at the studio, and take responsibility for daily tasks such as artwork processing, studio organization and upkeep, and closing / cleaning, as well as hosting workshops and teaching classes. We have a small, capable team, and we are all very passionate about what we do!

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident art teacher who has a passion for helping people of all ages and abilities learn and grow artistic skills, while helping to maintain a beautiful studio space.
