Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Starting hourly pay: $20.73 per hour

Position summary

St. Peter’s Seminary is seeking a full time Housekeeping Custodian to keep resident, guest, academic, worship, and shared spaces clean, orderly, and welcoming. The role includes scheduled housekeeping, institutional laundry, routine custodial work, and room preparation. The employee works with the Facilities team and reports maintenance concerns and safety hazards to the Building Systems and Maintenance Manager.

Key responsibilities

Housekeeping

- Clean and prepare resident priests’ rooms, guest rooms, and other assigned spaces according to schedules and room standards.
- Clean washrooms, classrooms, offices, corridors, lounges, and shared spaces; dust surfaces, clean fixtures, and vacuum, mop, or maintain floors as assigned.
- Restock washroom supplies and keep cleaning carts, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized.

Laundry and linens

- Sort, wash, dry, fold, iron, and deliver assigned linens and garments using fabric care instructions and appropriate equipment settings.
- Handle resident, guest, chapel, kitchen, and event linens with care, including specialty fabrics and vestments when assigned.
- Maintain orderly linen stock, identify worn or damaged items,



and advise the manager when replacement or repair is needed.

Custodial and event support

- Collect and separate waste and recycle; maintain assigned floors and common areas.
- Set up and restore rooms for classes, meetings, liturgies, and events, including moving furniture and equipment as assigned.
- Report maintenance needs, damage, hazards, and incomplete work promptly to the Building Systems and Maintenance Manager.
- Follow cleaning procedures, product labels, equipment instructions, and workplace health and safety practices.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in housekeeping, laundry, or custodial work is preferred; experience in an institutional or educational setting is an asset.
- Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks, follow written procedures, and communicate respectfully with coworkers and building occupants.
- Ability to use laundry and cleaning equipment safely and to handle delicate fabrics with care.
- Ability to stand and walk for much of the shift and perform routine bending, reaching, and lifting associated with the work.

Employment details

Full-time position. Breaks, benefits, and other terms of employment are governed by the applicable SEIU Local 2 collective agreement and St. Peter Seminary agreement.

Pay: $20.73 per hour
