Natural Gasfitter/Utility Service Operator

Full Time – Permanent

Rocky Gas Co-op Ltd. is a not for profit cooperative that owns its own natural gas distribution system and supplies natural gas to its members in our franchise area. We operate on three key principals: Service, Safety and Satisfaction.

We are currently looking for a full time Gasfitter/Utility Service Operator to join our team in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

Position Responsibilities Summary:

In this team environment you will play an integral role in the technical and work leadership in the areas of gas measurement, regulation, maintenance of utility operations, and construction of natural gas transmission and distribution systems. Perform inspections of distribution system at regular intervals. Abide by codes of all regulating bodies, Alberta Energy Regulator, Alberta Environment, Rural Utilities and Energy Utility Board in regard to necessary reporting requirements.

Must be able to participate in on-call schedule on a rotational basis.

Qualifications Include:

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman gasfitter ticket
- Gas Utility Operator ticket is an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Experience in gas distribution preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools, equipment and instruments, along with physical ability to perform a variety of manual tasks (heavy lifting, squatting, bending, twisting and climbing. Work is performed with exposure to the outdoor elements.
- Good communication, organizational, decision-making skills, and a strong work ethic
- Positive working relationships and excellent customer service
- Proficient computer skills
- Good judgement,



motivated and works independently maintaining a high level and quality of performance
- Safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations
- MS office skills an asset

Training Requirements:

- Certification PE Fusion
- Ground Disturbance
- Line Location & Construction Safety
- First Aid, H2S, Fall Arrest, Confined Space, Ground Disturbance
- WHMIS, TDG, RMO Level 2, Cargo Securement would be an asset.

Typical Activities/Tasks

- Gas meter installs
- Operate and maintain Natural gas regulating, metering and odorizing stations
- Gas leak detection and CO leak detection
- Relief/PSV maintenance
- Line heater maintenance/inspections
- Cathodic testing/Anode replacements
- Line walking/Right-of-way inspections

Other Key Knowledge

· Selected applicant may be required to successfully pass a pre-employment, client requested, post-incident or random Drug and Alcohol Tests. Results from these tests may result in the applicant not obtaining a position or being removed from work sites.

Additional pay: Overtime

Salary Range: $35.00/hr - $45.00/hr (Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: 8 Hour Day Shift, Monday-Friday

Job closing date: until a suitable candidate is found

Working hours: 40 hours per week – on call rotation
