Darling Contracting and Development Inc. is hiring a Carpenter for a variety of residential and commercial projects. We’re looking for someone who can read plans, think through the work ahead and deliver quality craftsmanship from framing through finishing.

What you’ll do

- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and project details.
- Plan work sequences, identify material and tool requirements, and coordinate upcoming tasks with the supervisor.
- Complete framing, finish carpentry, exterior finishes and general carpentry.
- Carry out concrete-related work, including formwork and rebar placement.
- Check layouts, measurements and completed work for accuracy and quality.
- Identify unclear details or site conflicts and resolve them with the supervisor before proceeding.
- Coordinate your work with subcontractors and fellow trades.
- Complete assigned deficiency corrections and warranty work with care.
- Maintain a safe, organized jobsite and help less-experienced team members develop sound working practices.

What you bring

- Carpentry experience and the ability to perform the work described above.
- The ability to read and work from construction plans is required.
- Red Seal certification is an asset.
- Strong planning, practical problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently within an agreed plan and contribute to a team.

Your role in the bigger picture Our team shares responsibility for the functions that make a project successful: health and safety, material ordering and deliveries, quality control, warranty, documentation, and coordination with subcontractors and fellow trades.

As a carpenter, you’ll help turn the project plan into completed work. This includes identifying material needs early, checking your workmanship, recording progress and issues, and coordinating the next steps. You may take ownership of an assigned area suited to your experience, with the supervisor ensuring those responsibilities work together across the project.
