To support operational growth Pro-formance Intermodal is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic - Journeyman to join our team.

Responsibilities:

- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with work equipment (mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic)
- Organizes day-to-day field and shop equipment repairs and maintenance, managing the shop staff and assigning daily work tasks.
- Conduct inspections and tests, repair or replace parts with limited resources in remote locations outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Evaluate parts for reuse, repair, or replacement
- Use various hand and power hand tools
- Diagnose equipment problems and take corrective action in order to minimize the impact on crew production
- Adapts to new methods, processes, material, and equipment
- Prepare and submit equipment maintenance records, time sheets, etc.
- Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of shop, maintenance of shop tools and equipment, loading/unloading and storage of equipment, including service truck
- Responsible to complete all permits, paperwork, and logbooks associated with service trucks
- Assists other Heavy Duty Mechanics and apprentices as needed
- Welding expert, adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.




- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications Diesel Engine Repair Specialization Installation and alignment of engines and machinery.
- Perform repair work on heavy trucks Weight Handling Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Powered Equipment Repair Specialization Pumps.
- Differentials; Brake system Personal Suitability Flexibility.
- Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, Power take-offs, Off-road vehicle tires and wheels, Mechanical transmissions, Hydraulic transmissions.
- Highway vehicle tires and wheels, Differentials; Brake system Personal Suitability Flexibility.

Education and Experience:

- Journeyman Certificate in Truck and Trailer Mechanic, Red Seal considered an asset
- Dealership experience is an asset (5-7 years)
- Must have team lead experience (2-3 years)
- Chassis repair experience is an asset
- CVIP License is an asset, or ability to apply for license
- Familiar with after treatment devices and apprentices as needed
- Hydraulic equipment repair experience is an asset
- Class 3 with air endorsement is considered an asset
- Mechanical aptitude
- 3-5 years field experience
