We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our energetic team. · This role will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of Rolling Mix Concrete’s on-road and off-road assets. HET’s work as a team in conjunction with our drivers/operators to properly diagnose and repair mixer trucks, concrete pumping equipment, skid steers, loaders, excavators, dump trucks/trailers, slingers, forklifts, and pickups.

The HET is a critical role that supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment used across our concrete plants, gravel pits, yards, and project locations. The decisions our HET’s make, on daily basis, have direct influence on the overall profitability of the business and directly influence driver’s and operator’s ability to operate our assets in a safe and efficient manner.

Role Responsibilities:

Inspection and Diagnosis o Complete inspections as part of the company’s Planned Maintenance Program.

o Identify defects that may have been missed by the drivers and operators.

o Properly diagnose defects which are the “root cause” of the symptoms the drivers and operators notice and report.

o Utilize OEM diagnosing software and critical thinking to properly diagnose root cause defects.

o Dissect and break down parts to specifically identify failed components.

o Maintain up to date knowledge of OEM specifications and CVIP parameters to inform inspection and diagnosis decisions.

Repairs and Services o Complete repairs as required on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, engine, emissions, drivetrain, braking, mixer, and pump systems.

o Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete field repairs at yards,



gravel pits, and project locations as required.

o Review and test completed repairs before returning assets to service.

o Complete routine service tasks (greasing and fluid changes and top ups).

Communication o Communicate with drivers and operators to further understand symptoms they experience.

o Work with third party suppliers to order appropriate parts for repair work.

o Communicate equipment condition, repair priorities, parts requirements, and anticipated downtime to the appropriate maintenance and operations leaders.

Data Management o Document inspections, repairs, parts used, and time in an accurate manner.

General o Maintain tools, service equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

o Follow all Rolling Mix safety policies, procedures, lockout requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements while performing maintenance and repair work.

o Support other maintenance activities and perform additional duties as required to meet operational needs.

Qualifications:

o Alberta Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification or Red Seal endorsement.

o Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, steering, braking systems, and heavy equipment diagnostics.





o Experience maintaining and repairing construction, aggregate, concrete, mining, or similar industrial mobile equipment is considered an asset.

o Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, diagnostic information, and equipment specifications.

o Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize repairs based on operational requirements.

o Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel between Rolling Mix locations and work sites as required.

o Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, bending, climbing, working outdoors, and working around heavy equipment in varying weather conditions.

o Commitment to safe work practices, quality workmanship, reliability, and effective communication with maintenance and operations teams.

o Availability to work additional hours or respond to urgent equipment repairs when operationally required.
