PSL Patrick Sprack Limited provides a variety of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, petroleum, propane, and refrigeration services ranging from planned maintenance (both preventative and full coverage), inspections and diagnostic services as well as repairs, retrofits and new installations for commercial and industrial mechanical systems.

Position Summary The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This role works on a variety of HVAC equipment and systems while complying with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies. The HVAC Technician supports occupant comfort, equipment performance, and energy efficiency across facilities or customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

- Install HVAC systems and components including furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, chillers, boilers, ductwork, and controls
- Perform system start‑ups, testing, and commissioning to ensure proper operation
- Ensure installations meet applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards





Maintenance & Troubleshooting

- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on HVAC systems
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Test system performance, airflow, pressure, and temperatures
- Identify worn or faulty components and recommend corrective actions

Repairs & Service

- Repair or replace motors, compressors, fans, valves, thermostats, sensors, and controls
- Handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Respond to service calls and breakdowns to minimize system downtime

Safety & Compliance

- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements
- Ensure compliance with HVAC, electrical, and environmental regulations
- Complete work using proper tools, PPE, and safe work practices
- Report safety hazards, incidents, or equipment concerns

Documentation & Reporting

- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and inspection documentation
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and system conditions
- Provide clear communication to supervisors, facility staff, or customers regarding system status

Collaboration & Support

- Work closely with facility managers, maintenance teams, electricians, and contractors
- Assist with upgrades, retrofits, and energy‑efficiency initiatives




- Provide technical support and guidance to operations or facility users as needed

Qualifications & Experience

- HVAC certification, trade qualification, or completion of an HVAC apprenticeship required
- Refrigeration handling certification required (where applicable)
- 3–7+ years of HVAC installation or service experience (experience level dependent on role)
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or multi‑site environments an asset
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work location

Skills & Competencies

- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and refrigeration principles
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
- High attention to safety, accuracy, and workmanship
- Solid problem‑solving and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

- Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, and mechanical equipment
- May require shift work, overtime, on‑call duty, or travel between sites
