About the Position

Northern Rockies Child Development Association (NRCDA) is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Indigenous Supported Child Development Worker to join our team at Chalo Preschool.

This position provides individual and group-based support to children with diverse support needs within the licensed childcare environment. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with childcare educators, families, NRCDA staff, and other professionals to promote inclusion, development, independence, and meaningful participation in daily preschool activities.

The position requires regular travel between Fort Nelson and Fort Nelson First Nation. Travel time is included within the regular work schedule, and mileage is reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities The Indigenous Supported Child Development Worker will:

- Provide individualized and small-group support to children with diverse abilities and support needs.
- Support children who have a diagnosis or who are waiting for assessment or diagnosis.
- Assist children with participation in daily routines, play, learning activities, social interactions, transitions, communication, and self-care.
- Implement strategies and recommendations developed in collaboration with the child's support team.
- Work collaboratively with professionals such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Pediatric Occupational Therapists, Pediatric Physiotherapists, and Behaviour Consultants.
- Promote inclusive practices that support children's strengths,



abilities, culture, identity, and individual needs.
- Observe children's participation and progress and communicate relevant information to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect the privacy and confidentiality of children and families.
- Participate in team meetings, training, planning, and professional development as required.
- Follow NRCDA policies and procedures and applicable childcare, health, safety, and professional standards.

Qualifications

Applicants must

- Be legally qualified to work in Canada.
- Have education in one or more of the following areas:
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate
- Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate
- Currently working toward an ECE Certificate
- Education Assistant (EA) Certificate
- Support Worker Certificate
- Have a valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Be comfortable driving on the Alaska Highway between Fort Nelson and Fort Nelson First Nation.
- Provide three qualified references, preferably including an employer, supervisor, or professional colleague.
- Complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Demonstrate strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.




- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, reliability, and confidentiality.

Experience working with children with support needs, including children with a diagnosis or awaiting diagnosis, is an asset. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team involving speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or behavioural consultation is also an asset.
