Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Tax Disputes/Litigation Associate to join our legal team. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates who enjoy the practice of Tax Law and are eager to develop their skills in a small but busy environment.

The Junior Tax

Associate will assist in various aspects of litigation and Tax disputes, including research, document preparation, and case management, while gaining valuable experience in the legal field. Reasonable billable target. Hybrid.

Duties

- Appear in Tax Court
- Perform legal research, analysis, and evaluations
- Draft legal correspondence and documents (including written submissions, notices of objection, and court pleadings) for submission to tax authorities (e.g., the Canada Revenue Agency) and judicial bodies (e.g., the Tax Court of Canada)
- Support clients in responding to audits conducted by federal and provincial tax authorities




- Assist in handling litigation before federal and provincial courts and administrative tribunals
- Provide guidance to clients on navigating the tax dispute resolution process and act on their behalf before tax authorities
- Prepare legal opinions regarding the tax implications of transactions, and conduct post-transaction reviews to assess tax efficiency and potential litigation exposure...

Requirements

- Demonstrated interest in Tax Law
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with the dispute resolution procedures of the Canada Revenue Agency, as well as the processes of the Tax Court of Canada and other applicable courts and tribunals
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.

Job Type: Full time Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
