Farhill Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Junior / Intermediate Structural Engineer, Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or Engineering Technologist to join our growing structural engineering practice.

We are a small, cohesive engineering office providing structural engineering services throughout Vancouver Island and British Columbia. Our work includes residential and commercial construction, renovations, structural assessments, insurance-related investigations and repairs, retaining walls, and a wide variety of unique structural projects.

This position is well suited to someone who enjoys a variety of projects, practical problem solving, and being involved in projects from initial site review through design and construction.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will work alongside our professional engineers and technical staff on a variety of structural projects. Responsibilities may include:

- Structural analysis and design of wood, steel and reinforced concrete structures
- Design of beams, columns, walls, foundations, retaining walls and other structural components
- Preparation of structural calculations, sketches, details and construction drawings
- Review and markup of drawings using Bluebeam Revu
- Use of structural analysis and engineering design software
- Site visits, measurements and field reviews of existing buildings and current construction
- Structural assessments of existing and damaged buildings
- Preparation of field review reports and technical documentation
- Coordination with contractors, architects, owners and other consultants
- Assisting senior engineers with project design and construction-related issues

Qualifications We are interested in candidates with a range of experience and will consider applicants at the junior through intermediate level.

The ideal candidate will have:





- A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology
- Experience or education in structural design of wood, steel and concrete
- Familiarity with the BC Building Code and Canadian structural design standards
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu
- Experience with structural analysis/design software
- Strong technical and practical problem-solving abilities
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a small team
- Robust organizational skills and attention to detail
- A valid driver's licence and ability to attend project sites

Registration or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as an EIT or P.Eng. is an asset for engineering applicants.
