Role Description The Lead Carpenter – Restoration is a full-time hybrid role based in Mitchell, ON, with some work from home acceptable for planning, documentation, and coordination tasks. This role oversees restoration projects from initial layout through completion, including framing, finish carpentry, and detailed repairs to existing structures. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting drawings, organizing materials, operating hand and power tools, and ensuring quality workmanship and site safety.

The Lead

Carpenter coordinates and mentors crew members, communicates with project managers and clients, and helps schedule work to meet timelines and budgets.



The role also involves inspecting existing conditions, proposing practical solutions to restoration challenges, and maintaining accurate records of work performed.

Qualifications

- Strong carpentry skills, with experience leading restoration or renovation projects.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, with a commitment to safe operation and maintenance.
- Experience in framing and structural repairs, including work on existing buildings.
- Skilled in finish carpentry, including trim, cabinetry, and detailed interior/exterior finishes.
- Ability to read construction drawings, take accurate measurements, and plan work sequences.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including supervising crews and coordinating subcontractors.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Mitchell, ON.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety.
- Previous experience in restoration, heritage work, or complex renovations is an asset.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship completion in carpentry is preferred.
