Role Overview

We are looking for an exceptional, results-driven Senior / Lead Software Engineer to drive our core software strategy. As a strategic technical leader, you will connect engineering execution directly with overarching business goals. Beginning as our sole software developer with complete ownership of the architecture and codebase, you will have the long-term potential to build and manage the software team as our company expands.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong project management skills to deliver robust software on schedule, within scope, and aligned with market demands. Because our software interfaces with electromechanical systems, safety and reliability are paramount to our success.

Key Responsibilities

- Full-Stack Development & Architecture: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software architectures utilizing Golang for backend services and modern Front-end stacks.
- Database Management: Architect and optimize complex SQL database schemas, ensuring high performance, data integrity, and scalability.
- DevOps & Infrastructure: Establish, optimize, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to guarantee seamless, continuous deployment and high operational reliability.
- Project & Scope Management: Act as the technical project manager; define project scopes, accurately estimate timelines, manage deadlines, and mitigate technical risks.
- Technical Leadership & Quality: Lead software projects from conception to deployment. Establish engineering best practices,



conduct rigorous code reviews, and champion Agile methodologies while delivering quality software.
- Team Expansion: Transition smoothly from individual contributor to a managerial role as the business grows, taking responsibility for mentoring, leading, and managing future full-time software engineering hires.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Proven Leadership: Extensive experience leading complex software projects from scratch, successfully navigating the balance between rapid business delivery and technical debt.
- Core Technical Stack Proficiencies:
- Backend: Advanced, production-level expertise in Golang, GRPC.
- Frontend: Strong proficiency in modern Front-end stacks (e.g., Vue).
- Data: Deep understanding of SQL and relational database design/optimization.
- DevOps Mastery: Proven track record implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Release Lifecycle & Reliability: Master of release lifecycles, including robust revert and hotfix strategies in a continuously operating production environment. Proven ability to minimize downtime for customer-facing applications and production assembly line scripts.
- Methodology: Robust project management experience for multidisciplinary engineering projects with software components, integrating Gantt/Kanban methodologies with the flexibility to incorporate sprints as needed.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate business goals into exact technical requirements and manage project scope effectively.




- AI-Driven Efficiency & Mentorship: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI tools and technologies, actively adopting those that enhance quality and time efficiency, including agentic workflows. Proactively assist non-programmer engineers in utilizing AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Codex) to improve overall workflow efficiency.
- API Design: Experience designing APIs is an asset, as our public-facing APIs require a strong focus on user-friendliness and clear documentation.
- UX Design: Proficiency in UX design for Electron-based applications, including the ability to redesign workflows, propose alternative UX presentations, and effectively communicate UX mockups to stakeholders before implementation.
- Documentation & Versioning: Write and maintain comprehensive changelogs and clear versioning adapted to several levels of audience, including engineers, directors, and customers.

Compensation and Benefits

- Base salary: $120k to $160k CAD, negotiable depending on experience and qualifications
- A comprehensive group insurance plan, fully paid by the employer
- Paid time off: 3 weeks of vacation annually
- Sick leave: 5 paid sick days per year

Pay: $120,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
