About the Role

Vitesse Transport Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Load Planner to join our freight brokerage team.

The Load

Planner is responsible for sourcing, booking, and coordinating freight movements exclusively through third-party carriers, ensuring on-time pickups and deliveries while maximizing carrier network efficiency and margin.

Key Responsibilities

- Source and book qualified third-party carriers for daily freight volumes

- Match available loads with the most cost-effective and reliable carrier based on lane, equipment, and service requirements

- Negotiate carrier rates within approved margin targets

- Build and maintain relationships with a reliable carrier base across key lanes

- Monitor loads in transit and proactively resolve delays, service failures, or exceptions with carriers

- Communicate pickup/delivery details, appointments, and special instructions to carriers

- Verify carrier compliance (insurance, authority, safety rating) before booking

- Maintain accurate load, rate, and carrier data in the TMS (Transportation Management System)

- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to meet client SLAs





- Track carrier performance (on-time %, claims, compliance) and flag issues to management

- Ensure compliance with cross-border (Canada/US) documentation requirements where applicable

- Support continuous improvement of carrier sourcing and margin optimization

Qualifications

- 1–3 years of experience in freight brokerage or carrier sourcing/procurement (3PL environment required or strongly preferred)

- Strong understanding of the North American third-party carrier market, including cross-border freight

- Proficiency with TMS software and Microsoft Excel

- Excellent negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset

- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and Transport Canada regulations is a plus
