We are seeking an experienced and driven Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This pivotal role provides financial leadership, management accounting expertise, and trusted business partnering support across Council activities. Working closely with managers and senior leaders, you will help ensure sound financial decision-making through robust reporting, budgeting, forecasting, project accounting, and financial analysis.

The Opportunity | Te Whai Wāhitanga

This role offers a unique mix of:
- Management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering.
- Supporting Annual Plans, Long-Term Plans, Annual Reports and external audits.
- Working alongside managers to provide practical financial advice and insights.

- Contributing to strong financial governance, internal controls and compliance across Council.

- Financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end processes.

What You'll Bring | Ō Pūkenga me Ō Wheako

We are looking for someone with the following:

Essential:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Experience with capital accounting, project accounting and financial analysis.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand.
- A current and valid Full Current Zealand Driver License
- Minimum five years' accounting experience in management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

Desirable:

- Experience within local government or the public sector.
- Knowledge of local government funding structures, grants and subsidy arrangements.
