Microsoft Fabric / Power BI Developer & Consultant — Contract

Location: Canada preferred; Toronto/GTA is a strong advantage

Engagement: B2B / Independent Contractor

Hours: Project-based, potentially up to 30 hours/week depending on client demand

Work model: Remote / Hybrid depending on the client project

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Fabric / Power BI Developer & Consultant to support client projects on a flexible contract basis.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role for a mid-to-senior professional who can join an existing project, understand requirements quickly, communicate directly with customers, and independently move the work forward.

The internal technical team will provide support on higher-level architecture when needed, while the consultant will take ownership of day-to-day project delivery.

Responsibilities

- Deliver Microsoft Fabric and Power BI solutions for client projects.
- Work directly with customers to understand business and technical requirements.
- Help define and clarify project scope.
- Translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Build, configure, test, and deliver solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
- Independently manage assigned project work and deliverables.
- Provide regular project updates and communicate risks or blockers.
- Collaborate with the internal technical team on architecture and complex technical questions.




- Participate in client meetings and explain technical topics clearly.
- Join existing projects quickly and contribute with minimal onboarding.

Requirements

- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong experience with Power BI.
- Experience delivering data and BI solutions in a Microsoft environment.
- Previous consulting or client-facing project experience.
- Ability to work directly with customers.
- Ability to understand requirements and contribute to defining project scope.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Mid-to-senior level professional experience.

Preferred

- Based in Canada, ideally Toronto/GTA.
- Ability to occasionally work onsite with clients in Toronto.
- Experience working for a Microsoft Partner or consulting company.
- Experience joining projects for specific periods and becoming productive quickly.
- Broader Microsoft data-platform experience in addition to Fabric and Power BI.

Engagement Model

This is a flexible B2B contractor prospect. The workload will depend on active client projects and may vary over time.

The consultant may support different projects as additional capacity or specialized expertise is needed. Some engagements may require significant weekly availability, including approximately 30 hours per week.

Rate: To be determined based on experience and availability.
