Travel: Regular travel between customer locations throughout the Metro Vancouver / Vancouver Island / Northern BC.; occasional travel to other areas of Ontario may be required.

We provide reliable onsite IT and infrastructure execution, acting as the field-service execution layer between remote IT operations and physical customer locations.

Our work is performed using defined work orders, professional field procedures, structured documentation, and clear communication with remote IT teams and project managers. As Viverlink expands its regional presence in the Metro Vancouver / Vancouver Island / Northern BC., we are building a professional field-service network and are looking for technicians who can grow with the organization and take on increasingly complex assignments.

About the Role

We are looking for a Network Field Technician who is comfortable working independently at customer locations throughout the Metro Vancouver / Vancouver Island / Northern BC. and can represent Viverlink professionally in the field.

This is a hands-on role involving network equipment installation, troubleshooting, structured cabling, hardware deployment, and onsite technical support.

You will frequently work from detailed work orders and coordinate with remote engineers, MSP teams, project managers, and customer representatives.

The right candidate does not need to know everything on day one. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, good troubleshooting instincts, professional communication, and the ability to learn and grow.

Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork & Infrastructure

- Install, replace, configure, and test network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless access points, and related hardware.
- Perform basic network connectivity troubleshooting using TCP/IP concepts and common diagnostic methods.
- Identify and troubleshoot physical network and infrastructure issues.
- Perform structured cabling activities, including cable routing, termination, labeling, patching, and basic testing.
- Install and organize network equipment in racks, cabinets, and customer environments.
- Assist with network upgrades, technology rollouts, hardware refreshes, and multi-site deployments.
- Perform hardware replacement and equipment installation according to approved work instructions.

Field Service Execution
- Review work orders and site requirements before arriving onsite.
- Arrive prepared with the required tools, information, and equipment.
- Follow client-specific instructions, technical documentation, site procedures,



and safety requirements.
- Work independently while maintaining communication with remote technical teams.
- Escalate issues when they exceed the assigned scope or technical authority.
- Avoid making unauthorized changes to customer environments.

Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate work-order and ticket information.
- Document work performed, findings, configuration changes, serial numbers, and relevant observations.
- Capture required photographs and other completion evidence.
- Clearly communicate issues, blockers, and outstanding work.
- Complete professional field-service reports following Viverlink and client requirements.

Customer Interaction
- Represent Viverlink professionally at customer locations.
- Communicate clearly with site contacts and customer personnel.
- Manage expectations and provide accurate status updates.
- Maintain a professional presence in offices, retail locations, technical facilities, and other customer environments.
- Protect customer information and follow applicable security and confidentiality requirements.

Required Qualifications We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate practical ability in several of the following areas:

Networking

- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Familiarity with switches, routers, wireless access points, and network cabling.
- Ability to perform basic connectivity troubleshooting.
- Ability to understand IP addressing, Ethernet, VLAN concepts, and common network terminology.

Cabling & Physical Infrastructure
- Experience with structured cabling.
- Ability to terminate, label, organize, and test network cables.
- Familiarity with patch panels, racks, cable management, and physical network infrastructure.
- Ability to use basic field testing and hand tools.

Troubleshooting
- Ability to systematically identify the cause of technical problems.
- Comfortable troubleshooting connectivity, hardware, cabling, and physical infrastructure issues.
- Able to distinguish between issues that can be resolved onsite and those requiring escalation.

Field Service
- Comfortable working independently at customer sites.
- Able to follow work orders and technical instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Comfortable travelling between customer locations throughout the Metro Vancouver / Vancouver Island / Northern BC.

Communication
- Professional verbal and written communication.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Able to provide concise and accurate field updates.

Assets / Preferred Qualifications The following are considered assets but are not mandatory:

- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent training
- Experience with enterprise networking equipment
- Experience with wireless networking




- Experience with fiber optic infrastructure
- Experience with POS or retail technology deployments
- Experience with hardware refreshes or multi-site deployments
- Previous MSP, field-service, telecom, or onsite IT experience
- Experience working from ticketing or service-management systems
- Experience reading network diagrams, site plans, or technical documentation

Depending on experience, performance, and technical development, technicians may progress toward more advanced responsibilities such as:

- Advanced network deployments
- Wireless infrastructure

- Multi-site technology rollouts
- Structured cabling and infrastructure projects

- Project-based field leadership
- Specialized technical assignments

Requirements

- Valid driver's license is preferred.
- Reliable transportation is preferred.
- Ability to travel between customer locations throughout the Metro Vancouver / Vancouver Island / Northern BC.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to other areas of BC when required.
- Ability to work in different commercial and technical environments.
- Ability to lift and move typical IT/network equipment when required.
- Ability to work occasional non-standard hours for scheduled deployments or maintenance activities.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
