Part-Time Companion / Home Support Worker — Long-Term Opportunity in Airdrie

We are looking for a dependable, patient and engaging support worker who wants to build a lasting working relationship through consistent, thoughtful home support. This ongoing role is for someone who values getting to know a person, learning their preferences and helping make everyday life more enjoyable.

Schedule and opportunity

Start with approximately four hours per week, typically two daytime visits of two hours each, with opportunities for additional hours. We are looking for someone interested in building a longer-term schedule with us. Weekday daytime availability is preferred. Specific days and times will be discussed privately and agreed before starting. Please include your current availability and the number of hours you would ideally like to work.

Responsibilities

- Provide meaningful companionship and take an active interest in the person's chosen activities.
- Communicate patiently, adapt to different communication styles and allow time for responses.
- Offer activities without pressure and respect individual choices and quiet time.
- Accompany the person on short walks and community outings with attention to safety.
- Prepare meals following household instructions and clean up afterward.
- Accompany the person to appointments when arranged in advance.
- Remain attentive and supportive throughout each visit.




- Follow the care plan, complete visit notes and report concerns to the care team.

Who would be a good fit You are warm, observant and reliable. You can initiate an activity or conversation while respecting boundaries and independence. You understand that positive companionship involves listening, patience and building trust over time.

Experience in companionship, disability support, community support or home care is an asset. Please be prepared to discuss relevant experience and provide references. Confidentiality, punctuality and consistent communication are essential.

A driver's licence and access to a vehicle are preferred. Please indicate whether you would be comfortable discussing appointment transportation; arrangements will be confirmed separately.
