Job Summary

Mabel's Bakery is seeking a junior Pastry Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating delicious pastries from scratch. Must be available to work at least one weekend day per week. Shifts may be daytime with an early start or afternoons into evenings. Full availability is required including weekends. The team either works Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Monday although we can accomodate alternative schedules that include full weekend availablity.

Duties

- Prepare doughs (including yeasted doughs), batters and fillings to meet daily production demand
- Bake and assemble cakes, bars, cookies and yeasted products to company standards
- Ensure all food preparation meets food safety standards
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to fulfill customer orders
- Assist with inventory management of laminated dough products to ensure proper stock rotation, proper storage and enough available product to meet demand
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen

Experience:




- Previous experience in a pastry cook role or similar position in a small to medium sized bakery with experience in 10-60 kilo batches
- Knowledge of food handling and safety procedures
- Experience working in a restaurant or bakery setting
- Proficiency in baking and working with yeasted dough products
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen setting
- Previous experience with lamintated doughs is a bonus
- Demonstrated ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per day and to lift up to 20 kilos regularly
