Payroll, Benefits & HR Coordinator – Temporary Full-Time
Location: Edmonton, AB – HR Office
Job Type: Temporary Full-Time
Term: Approximately 6 months, with the possibility of extension or continued employment .
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Payroll, Benefits & HR Coordinator to join our HR team on a temporary full-time basis.
Reporting to the HR Manager and working collaboratively with Finance and Accounting, this position is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing, perks administration, employee expense reimbursements, and HR administration.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing confidential information, and meeting strict payroll and reporting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Review timesheets, payroll adjustments and employee information.
- Administer employee expense and mileage reimbursements.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Administer Canada Life group benefits, including enrolments, terminations, salary changes and dependent changes.
- Coordinate employee leaves and reconcile benefit invoices.
- Prepare employment agreements and HR documentation.
- Set up and maintain employee information in ADP.
- Support employee onboarding and personnel record administration.
- Prepare monthly probationary and annual review reports.
- Coordinate government wage subsidy and grant applications.
- Prepare CRA remittances, ROEs and T4s.
- Prepare payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
- Support month-end, year-end and audit requirements.
- Assist with HR administrative duties and special projects as required.HR Administration & Onboarding
- Create new hire profiles in ADP Workforce Now and assist employees throughout the onboarding process.
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic employee files.
- Ensure employment documentation, including annual performance reviews and probationary reviews, is properly filed and maintained.
- Prepare and track probationary and annual performance review reports.
- Prepare employment agreements and other HR documentation.
- Support employee onboarding, policy acknowledgements and personnel record administration.
- Perform additional HR administrative duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of Canadian payroll administration experience.
- Experience processing payroll using ADP Workforce Now .
- Experience administering Canada Life or a comparable group benefits program.
- Previous Human Resources administration experience.
- Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, Employment Standards, CRA requirements, and applicable federal and provincial employment legislation.
- PCP designation or progress toward certification is considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Payroll, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with HR, Finance and Accounting.
- Successful completion of a background check satisfactory to the Company.
Working at Leston This is an in-office position based at our Corporate Head Office in Edmonton. The regular schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime that may be required during payroll processing, month-end, year-end or other peak periods.
The term may be extended, and there may be an opportunity for continued employment depending on operational requirements and business needs.
