Peer Connector – School Based

WEOG Work Experience Opportunity

240-Hour Stipend Position The Peer Connector is a school-based work experience position designed to support positive connections, inclusion, and engagement among students.

Working alongside school staff and under supervision, the Peer Connector will help create a welcoming environment where students feel included, supported, and connected to their school community. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and youth, is approachable and dependable, and would like to gain experience working in a school and community-support setting.

What You’ll Do The Peer Connector may assist with:

- Building positive and appropriate connections with students during the school day.
- Helping students feel welcomed, included, and connected to school activities.
- Supporting recreational, social, cultural, and other student activities.
- Assisting with lunchtime, break-time, or other supervised student activities.
- Helping prepare materials and spaces for activities and programs.
- Encouraging participation and positive peer interactions.
- Working alongside school staff to support planned activities and initiatives.
- Helping with special events, workshops, and school/community activities.
- Completing basic organizational and administrative tasks related to the position.
- Participating in training and learning opportunities provided through the work experience.
- Other appropriate duties related to the Peer Connector role as assigned by the principal.

Previous experience working with children or youth is an asset but is not required. This position is intended to provide an opportunity to learn and develop workplace skills.

Schedule: To be arranged with the successful participant and supervisor

Supervision: Position will work under designated school/program supervision.

Requirements

- A Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check is required because this position involves working around children and youth.
- The required criminal record check will be arranged and paid for by the employer.

The successful participant will also be expected to follow all applicable school, program, confidentiality, safety, and conduct policies.

This is a stipend-based work experience opportunity funded through the United Way Work Experience Opportunities Grant and is intended to provide meaningful hands-on experience, skill development, mentorship, and connection to the workplace.

Pay: $3,600.00 per year
