This Prospect:

We are currently looking to fill a Part Time Permanent Personal Support Worker position in our Northeast region – Elliot Lake.

Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Starting wage: $23.11 per hour . This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.

Hours: Hours vary and are not guaranteed

Responsibilities:

Duties include the following

- Assists clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures
- Personal care
- Lifts and Transfers
- Rising/retiring
- Bowel and bladder procedures
- Meal preparation and feeding
- Range of motion exercises
- Other light housekeeping duties
- Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
- The Personal Support Worker will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. days, evenings, weekends, and holidays).





Qualifications:

- Grade 12 Diploma is a requirement and/or PSW certificate
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
- Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living, or Client based care.
- Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties.
- Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire.
- Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including de-escalation techniques.
- Professionalism in dealing with team members and other service providers.
- Experience with mental health and behaviour management skills an asset.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends
- Driver’s license, and reliable means of transportation is a requirement of the position to travel to and from client homes.
