Position Summary

LUSO Canadian Charitable Centres is seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our Weekend Respite Program team supporting adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Our PSWs provide direct personal care while helping participants enjoy a safe, engaging and meaningful respite experience away from home. Working as part of a collaborative respite team, the PSW supports individual care needs, health and safety, daily routines, meals, recreational activities and community participation while promoting participant dignity, choice and independence.

What You'll Do

- Provide respectful, participant-centred personal care, including hygiene, toileting and dressing support.
- Provide feeding assistance and mealtime support when required. Assist participants with mobility, positioning and transfers in accordance with individual support plans and staff training.
- Assist with medication administration in accordance with LUSO policies, procedures and training.
- Follow individualized participant support and care plans, routines and identified needs.
- Support participants with daily living routines throughout their respite stay.
- Support participant arrivals, departures and transitions.
- Observe participant health, behaviour and well-being and promptly report concerns or changes.
- Monitor and report incidents, injuries and seizure-related activity in accordance with LUSO procedures.
- Support participants to maintain as much choice and independence as possible in their daily routines.
- Support participant involvement in recreational, social and community-based activities.
- Participate in community outings and activities.
- Complete required participant care, medication,



incident and program documentation accurately and within required timelines.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate relevant participant information to support continuity of care.
- Support participants and the team in maintaining safe, clean and organized program spaces.
- Maintain participant dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
- Participate in staff meetings and mandatory training.
- Follow all LUSO policies, procedures, emergency protocols and health and safety requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Who We're Looking For We're looking for a qualified PSW who enjoys supporting adults with developmental and physical disabilities and is interested in working in an active, community-based Weekend Respite Program.

Previous experience in developmental services, respite or a related setting is an asset, but candidates with transferable PSW experience and a strong interest in developmental services are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is comfortable supporting participants with personal care and daily routines while also contributing to recreational activities, outings and an enjoyable weekend experience.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from a recognized program – required.
- Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check within six months.
- Experience supporting adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities is an asset.
- Experience in respite, developmental services or a related community setting is an asset.
- Knowledge or experience related to seizure protocols, medication administration and G-tube care is an asset.
- Understanding of participant dignity, privacy, confidentiality and person-centred support.




- Ability to work scheduled weekend shifts within the Friday-to Monday Respite Program.

- Ability to work in an active Weekend Respite Program environment.
