Summary

We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Piano, Drums, and/or Guitar Instructor to inspire and nurture musical talent in students of all ages. In this role, you will provide engaging, personalized lessons that develop technical skills, confidence, creativity, and a genuine love for music.

You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ musical journeys while becoming part of a welcoming and supportive music school community. Instructors will also play an important role in our demo lesson process, helping prospective students and families experience the value of music education and determine the best fit for ongoing lessons.

We are currently looking for instructors who are available to teach in person in Langley.

Duties

- Design and deliver customized piano, drums, and/or guitar lessons based on each student's age, experience, interests, goals, and learning pace
- Create engaging and enjoyable lessons that encourage students to develop their musical skills and confidence
- Follow and implement our demo lesson process to provide a positive first-lesson experience for new students
- Prepare students for performances, recitals, exams, or personal musical goals
- Incorporate technique, music theory, rhythm, ear training, improvisation, and repertoire appropriate to each student's level
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Track student progress and communicate relevant achievements or challenges with parents/guardians and studio staff
- Maintain a secure, organized, and welcoming teaching setting
- Support early childhood music education by using age-appropriate and engaging teaching techniques
- Be reliable, punctual, and prepared for each lesson




- Stay current with effective teaching methods and resources

Qualifications & Nice-to-Haves
- Post-secondary music education and/or equivalent professional teaching experience
- Proven experience teaching piano, drums, and/or guitar to students of different ages and skill levels
- Robust musical background in performance and instruction
- Experience teaching children and young beginners, especially ages 5+
- Ability to adapt lessons to different learning styles and individual needs
- Experience working with students with special learning needs is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with both children and parents/guardians
- Able to arrange or transpose simple parts on the spot for student song requests
- Familiarity with RCM or other structured music education programs is an asset
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Langley
- Experience teaching more than one instrument is an asset

Compensation Competitive, experience-based rates

This is a part-time independent contractor position with the potential for additional teaching hours as student enrollment grows.
