About Us

The History Department studies the past to prepare historically informed global citizens for the challenges of today and tomorrow. Our faculty and students produce historical knowledge and interpretations that reveal how and why the past matters.

We have several areas of research focus in history: Canadian, Digital, Environmental/ Science/Medicine, Gender/Women, Indigenous, International/Global, Public History, Social/Cultural, and War/Conflict. Several of our faculty have cross-appointments to other departments or programs.

In geographic terms, we teach undergraduate and graduate courses on Canada, the United States, Europe, East Asia, Middle East, and Africa. Our department supports an undergraduate program in International Relations, in conjunction with the Department of Political Science. Our graduate students earn a PhD in History or MA in History. The MA options include a 12-month program, and a Public History field.

Responsibilities

Assistance is needed to help with post-production on a short documentary film, including additional story edits that will precede a second edit of the film for events in 2027.



The position will report to the Director of Public History.

Qualifications

Education

- A minimum of two (2) years post-secondary education in an accredited broadcast, film or media program.

Experience:
- 5 years of work experience in post-production in video or film production. Experience in documentary film work preferred.
- The candidate must have their own computer equipment and software.

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Demonstrate proficiency and advanced knowledge in Adobe Premiere Pro software
- Demonstrate solid storytelling ability through post-production in a deadline-oriented work environment
- Proficiency and working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects
- Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent proficiency in the English language
