About The Role Tenure: Permanent, Full Time. Energy Policy WA provides policy advice to facilitate the delivery of secure, reliable, sustainable and affordable energy services.



We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Principal Policy Analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping Western Australia's energy future. Operating within a complex and evolving policy environment, this role sits at the centre of critical energy sector reforms, decarbonisation initiatives and government priorities. You will provide high-level analysis and expert policy advice that supports the effective oversight, performance and long-term strategic direction of Western Australia's energy Government Trading Enterprises.

Working closely with key stakeholders across government, including Energy Policy WA, PoweringWA, Treasury, Ministers and energy sector organisations, you will lead the development of advice on complex policy issues relating to the operation, governance and strategic plans of Synergy, Western Power and Horizon Power. Drawing on strong analytical capability and sound judgement, you will undertake detailed research, evaluate policy options and provide evidence-based recommendations that support significant reforms, investment decisions and the State's decarbonisation objectives. You will also play a key role in facilitating strategic discussions, preparing high-quality ministerial briefings and correspondence, and supporting governance processes at both executive and board level.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys navigating complexity, influencing outcomes and working across multiple stakeholders to deliver meaningful public policy outcomes. You will bring strong policy development and evaluation experience, exceptional communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical, financial and regulatory information into clear and practical advice. As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to leadership, mentoring colleagues and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
