Project Coordinator - Light Industrial/Retail - Ottawa

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to join their Ottawa team. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will support the successful planning, coordination, documentation, and execution of construction projects, with a primary focus on light industrial facilities and large-format retail developments.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of construction experience supporting commercial, industrial, or retail projects and will thrive in a quick-paced environment where communication, organisation, and teamwork are critical to project success.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist Project Managers and Site Superintendents in the planning, coordination, and delivery of construction projects.
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and meeting minutes.
- Coordinate and track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Support procurement activities by obtaining quotations, issuing purchase orders, and coordinating material deliveries.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and change management processes.
- Assist with project reporting,



forecasting, and progress updates.
- Coordinate permit applications, inspections, occupancy requirements, and closeout documentation.
- Ensure all project documentation is maintained accurately within project management systems.
- Support the implementation of health and safety standards and company procedures.
- Participate in site meetings and progress reviews as required.
- Assist with project turnover, deficiency management, and warranty administration.

Required Skills & Experience

- Minimum 3 years of construction experience in a Project Coordinator, Junior Project Manager, Site Coordinator, or similar role.
- Direct experience supporting light industrial and/or large retail construction projects.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project administration processes.
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.




- Valid Ontario driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
- Experience working on Design-Build or Construction Management projects.
- Gold Seal, PMP, or related industry certifications (or working toward certification).
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and construction health and safety requirements.

Job Offer A basic salary up to $85,000 (dependent upon experience)
