The Position
We are seeking a skilled Finishing Lead to join our growing custom architectural millwork team.
As a Finisher, your understanding of wood species, finishing systems, and spray application techniques will play a key role in producing high-quality architectural millwork. You thrive in a quality-driven setting, take pride in exceptional craftsmanship, and bring a meticulous approach to every project from preparation through final inspection.
Role Responsibilities
- Spray paints, primers, lacquers, and other finishing products to CCW quality standards within a budgeted timeframe.
- Apply stains by hand using wiping techniques to achieve consistent color and appearance.
- Select, mix, and apply appropriate stains, sealers, topcoats, paints, varnishes, lacquers, and other finishes based on product requirements.
- Prepare surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and inspection prior to finishing.
- Monitor finish quality and ensure all products meet customer and company specifications.
- Troubleshoot finishing issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain spray equipment, finishing tools, and a clean work workplace.
- Responsible for supporting continuous improvement in the Finishing Department, including learning new finishing techniques and suggesting them to management.
- Deliver exceptional craftsmanship by possessing a meticulous attention to detail and recording a well-organized log of applied finishes and coatings for every work order and/or project.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding and knowledge of different wood species and their unique characteristics.
- Maintain Finishing stock with internal lists for all necessary inventory.
- Read and understand shop drawings and finish schedules.
- Produce high-quality samples and step panels.
- Other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Finishing.
- Knowledgeable in finishing with various products such as solvent and water base stains and lacquers and polyurethane products.
- Possesses a good knowledge of various woodworking species and materials.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Able to follow all proper maintenance, sanitation and health and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with pump and spray gun maintenance is an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $24.50-$31.00 per hour
