We are looking for a Quality Technician to join our growing team at our Lakeshore facility. The Quality Technician is responsible for testing and examining extruded aluminum parts to ensure that quality standards are met and aligned with customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have background and experience coordinating material and product testing, collecting test samples, and performing specific tests on materials and automotive parts.

The Quality Department currently works 12-hour continental rotating shifts, rotating between days and nights every 4 weeks. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of one-year manufacturing experience working in a quality-driven role. Completion of a relevant college or university program would be considered an asset.

Key Responsiblities

Product Inspection & Laboratory Testing

- Perform required inspections and testing of aluminum extrusion products in accordance with approved work instructions, control plans, engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable QMS procedures.
- Prepare production samples and conduct required laboratory testing.
- Perform tensile testing, ASCONA dimensional inspection, macro etching, polishing, and other required testing and inspection activities.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment and inspection methods.
- Inspect production materials for dimensional, visual, surface, metallurgical, and other specified defects.
- Perform testing and analysis related to new product development, process validation, PPAP activities, and failure investigations.
- Ensure samples are properly identified, handled, retained, and stored to maintain sample integrity and traceability.
- Maintain accurate historical testing and inspection records.

Blueprint, Drawing & Specification Interpretation

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, control plans, work instructions, and customer-specific requirements.
- Understand and apply basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) principles when performing dimensional inspections.
- Verify critical product characteristics against applicable drawing and specification requirements.
- Identify discrepancies between actual product measurements and established tolerances.
- Escalate drawing, specification, or measurement concerns to the appropriate Quality or Engineering representative.

ISO 9001 Quality Management System

- Perform assigned duties in accordance with the Company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Follow approved procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, control plans, and document-control requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records as objective evidence of product and process conformity.
- Support product identification and traceability requirements.
- Support control of nonconforming outputs, including identification, segregation, containment, documentation, and verification activities.
- Support corrective action and continual improvement activities.
- Participate in internal, customer, and external quality audits as required.
- Assist in addressing audit findings and implementing assigned corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of quality processes and communicate recommendations to Quality leadership.
- Promote customer focus and awareness of product and quality requirements throughout the organization.

Quality Control & Nonconforming Product

- Accurately record, maintain, and report inspection and test results.




- Track test samples and quality information through EPICS and other applicable quality systems.
- Immediately communicate failed tests, nonconforming product, or significant quality concerns to the Senior Quality Engineer or appropriate Quality representative.
- Support the identification, containment, segregation, documentation, and disposition process for nonconforming material.
- Assist with verification of sorted, reworked, repaired, or corrected material prior to release when required.
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records to support product and process traceability.
- Ensure product is not knowingly released when specified quality requirements have not been met or appropriate authorization has not been obtained.

Measurement, Calibration & MSA

- Verify that measuring and testing equipment is within its required calibration or verification period prior to use or release to Production.
- Properly use, handle, clean, protect, and store precision measurement and inspection equipment.
- Identify and immediately report damaged, malfunctioning, or potentially out-of-calibration equipment.
- Support investigations when measuring equipment is found to be unsuitable or outside established requirements.
- Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gauge R&R; activities, as required.
- Assist Production employees with the proper use and care of measurement equipment.
- Support calibration, verification, and measurement equipment recordkeeping requirements.

Quality Problem Solving & Corrective Action

- Support investigations of internal and external quality concerns.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Assist with structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, and other applicable quality tools.
- Provide inspection results, measurements, testing data, samples, and historical information to support investigations.
- Assist with customer complaint and product failure investigations.
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions or process improvements through inspection and testing when required.
- Escalate recurring or significant quality issues to the Senior Quality Engineer.

Automotive Quality & PPAP Support

- Support applicable automotive customer quality requirements and customer-specific requirements.
- Assist with inspections, measurements, testing, and documentation required for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
- Support control plan and inspection requirements for new and existing products.
- Assist with first-off, first-piece, layout, capability, and validation inspections as required.
- Maintain awareness of applicable automotive quality requirements, including relevant IATF 16949 principles where required by customers.
- Support compliance with established customer, quality, and documentation requirements.

Statistical Process Control & Process Monitoring

- Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities and review process data as required.
- Identify trends, abnormalities, or measurements approaching specification limits and communicate concerns appropriately.




- Assist Production in understanding inspection requirements and proper measurement techniques.
- Support process capability and continuous improvement activities through accurate collection and reporting of quality data.

Production Support

- Provide timely quality support to Production when product or process concerns are identified.
- Assist Production personnel in understanding product specifications, drawings, inspection requirements, and proper measurement techniques.
- Promote a quality-focused culture and compliance with the Company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Respond appropriately to quality concerns that could affect customer requirements or product conformity.
- Support Production with quality-related training involving measurement and inspection equipment.

Laboratory & Workplace Standards

- Maintain laboratory equipment, testing areas, samples, and workstations in a clean, organized, and skilled condition.
- Follow established 5S standards within the Quality Lab and assigned work areas.
- Ensure testing materials, samples, documentation, and equipment are properly identified and stored.
- Participate in continual improvement initiatives within the Quality department.

Health & Safety

- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures, and safe-work practices.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and operate equipment safely.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, and near misses.
- Actively contribute to accident prevention and continuous improvement of workplace safety.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

General Responsibilities

- Work collaboratively with Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and other departments.
- Participate in required training and development activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer, product, and company information.
- Support internal, customer, ISO 9001, and other third-party audits as required.
