The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is seeking a reception area assistant to work onsite in its executive offices on a part-time contract basis from October 13th to November 15th, 2026. Interested candidates must be available to work every day of the event, November 6th to 15th, including weekends.

Responsibilities:

· Respond to general telephone inquiries about the Fair and Fair activities;

· Record messages and forward them as needed;

· Check and respond to email inquiries;

· Handle in-person inquiries and direct as appropriate; greet clients attending meetings and events;

· Assist the Manager of Corporate Projects and the Senior Reception Coordinator as needed (mailings, deliveries, proofreading, photocopying etc.);

· Keep reception area presentable and tidy;

Qualifications:

- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) is a must;
- Positive, pleasant and professional manner is required in greeting and directing clients and patrons;
- Organizational and time management skills in handling multiple tasks;
- Ability to work phone, photocopier, printer
- Familiarity with MS Word, MS Outlook;
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in handling challenging situations;

Schedule: Assistant Coordinators would be expected to be available to work all the days of the event, November 6th to 15th, including weekends.

· Approximately 12 hours/week (October 13 to 30)

· Approximately 24-34 hours/week (November 2nd to 15th)

The Royal typically attracts over 200,000 visits to its 10-day event. Annually, The Royal hosts more than 5,000 animals as part of The Royal’s livestock and horse competitions. Competitions are also held for Canadian produced agriculture food products, such as, cheese, honey and maple syrup.

The Royal also plays a critical role in educating the general public on the journey food takes ‘from farm to fork’. This includes farming practices, the food industry, food safety, health and wellness, local food options, environmental impact, innovations in agriculture & careers in agriculture and food industries. Over 10,000 students attend at The Fair each year. Ontario curriculum-based educational programs are available for grades 1 through 12.

Promoting agri-business and tourism within Ontario is another prominent feature of The Royal. Purveyors of agri-food, agricultural products and culinary tourism from across Ontario come to The Royal to promote their products, services and regions in the Southern Ontario market. Discovering recent local products and the regions they come from is a valued part of experiencing The Royal.

The 2025 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair runs November 6th – 15th at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
