Join an award-winning trans-disciplinary team providing specialized stroke care in clients' homes through the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Program. As a Recreation Therapist, under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation interventions for clients recovering from stroke. Working within a trans-disciplinary model and guided by Client and Family Centered Care principles, you will support clients in restoring and enhancing leisure participation, community engagement, wellness, and quality of life. Interventions are provided primarily in home and community settings, supporting successful reintegration into meaningful activities and daily life. You will collaborate closely with clients, families, rehabilitation assistants, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Responsibilities include client and family education, community resource navigation, consultation and in-servicing, participation in team-based care planning, communication with key stakeholders, and completion of required documentation. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently offers a Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 annually. This non-pensionable allowance is paid on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the basic rate of pay.

Description

As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation.

You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications

Because of the Interdisciplinary nature of the program, communication requirements and ability to collaborate needs to be exceptional.
