Position Summary The Relief Store Manager Home Hardware provides temporary leadership and operational coverage for our retail stores in Arviat and Rankin Inlet. Based in the Winnipeg South Store, this position travels to Nunavut in response to vacations, absences, staffing changes, training needs, and other business requirements.

The successful candidate will keep store operations running safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards while supporting employees and delivering a positive customer experience. This role is well suited to an experienced retail leader who is dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in different northern communities.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide temporary Store Manager coverage in Arviat and Rankin Inlet as required.
- Manage daily store operations during relief assignments, ensuring efficient service and a qualified customer experience.
- Lead, coach, and motivate store employees while maintaining a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
- Plan staffing and schedules to meet operational requirements during relief periods.
- Monitor sales, inventory, merchandising standards, and overall store performance; identify issues and take timely corrective action.
- Oversee receiving, stocking, pricing, merchandising, replenishment, and inventory-control activities.
- Maintain accurate cash-handling practices and ensure all cash-control procedures are followed.
- Address customer concerns and resolve operational issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Support loss prevention and ensure security, workplace safety, and emergency procedures are consistently followed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment.
- Complete required reports and provide clear operational updates to management.
- Work closely with store teams and Head Office to support continuity of operations and successful transitions between assignments.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.





Travel Requirements This position is based @ The Winnipeg Home Hardware Store and requires regular travel to Arviat and Rankin Inlet according to operational demand. Relief assignments may vary in frequency and duration. Travel may be required to provide coverage for:

- Vacations and scheduled leaves
- Employee absences and staffing shortages
- Store-management transitions
- Training and operational support
- Periods of increased business demand
- Other operational requirements

Qualifications and Experience

- Previous experience in retail management, store management, or a comparable leadership role.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-management skills.
- Excellent customer-service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with inventory management, cash handling, scheduling, merchandising, and store operations.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, locations, and operational requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to company policies and procedures.
- Previous experience working in remote or northern communities is considered an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Nunavut.

Working Conditions

- Primary work location is Winnipeg, Manitoba (Winnipeg South), with temporary assignments in Arviat and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.
- Assignments vary in length depending on business requirements.
- The role requires flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
- The successful candidate must be comfortable travelling to, working in, and temporarily staying in remote northern communities.

Pay: $85,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
