About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Safety Manager with extensive experience in mining operations to lead their safety initiatives in a remote-first capacity. This critical leadership role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs designed to protect employees, contractors, and the environment. You will champion a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance across all mining sites. Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement robust health and safety management systems tailored for mining operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Lead incident investigations, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all levels of personnel.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to all national and international safety standards and legislation.
- Promote and foster a solid safety culture throughout the organization,



encouraging employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Manage the occupational health program, including health surveillance and emergency preparedness.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in health and safety management, with a substantial portion focused on mining operations .
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems (e.g., OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001).
- In-depth knowledge of mining regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation techniques.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, essential for driving change in a remote setting.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high ethical standards.
