Senior IT Migration Consultant – Google Workspace & Endpoint Management

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Senior IT Migration Consultant – Google Workspace & Endpoint Management for our client.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Our client is undergoing a corporate separation from its parent organization and is establishing a new, independent IT environment.

The organization is moving toward a streamlined, cloud-first environment centred on Google Workspace for productivity and identity, and Apple/Jamf for endpoint management. Much of the target-state planning has already been completed, and our client is now looking for a senior, hands-on consultant to validate the proposed approach and lead the technical execution of the transition.

The successful consultant will bring the technical experience and judgement to identify dependencies and challenge assumptions where necessary, while remaining hands-on throughout migration, cutover and stabilization.

The environment supports approximately 100 users across corporate and franchise operations.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Location: Remote – Canada

Duration: Initial 3-month contract, with potential for extension or follow-on work

Start Date: ASAP

Work Hours: Variable/project-based hours, with Pacific Time (PT) working hours preferred

Consultants located anywhere in Canada can be considered, provided they are able to align their availability with Pacific Time as required.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Senior IT Migration Consultant, you will work closely with our client’s technical team and the parent organization’s IT team to execute key elements of the separation.

Your responsibilities will include

- Review and technically validate the proposed migration architecture, sequencing, prerequisites and dependencies.
- Develop and execute a detailed migration and cutover plan, including pilots, validation, exception handling and rollback considerations.
- Support migration from the existing Google Workspace tenant to a new, independent Google Workspace workplace.
- Migrate and validate Gmail, My Drive, Shared Drives, Calendar, Contacts, Groups and memberships.
- Inventory and rationalize Shared Drives while maintaining required permissions and identifying migration exceptions.
- Support the transition from Okta to Google Workspace as the primary Identity Provider (IdP).




- Inventory existing Okta application integrations and identify SAML, SWA and SCIM dependencies before cutover.
- Reconfigure supported SaaS applications for Google SAML/OAuth authentication and identify applications requiring alternative authentication approaches.
- Assist with user and application access groups, MFA and administrative security controls.
- Review and validate domain and subdomain requirements supporting franchise locations.
- Coordinate migration sequencing with email/domain cutover activities and parent-company dependencies.
- Assist with establishing and configuring a new Jamf Pro and Apple Business Manager (ABM) environment.
- Configure device enrolment, configuration profiles, application deployment and appropriate macOS security settings.
- Support Apple Automated Device Enrollment and migration of existing Apple devices from the parent organization’s management environment.
- Coordinate device release, reset, re-enrolment and validation, including Activation Lock and FileVault recovery requirements.
- Support pilot migrations of remaining Windows users to managed Mac devices.
- Assist with implementation and deployment of the selected endpoint security/EDR solution.
- Troubleshoot migration issues and technical exceptions through resolution.
- Document the completed environment, configurations and procedures to support ongoing operations and eventual MSP handoff.

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS:

- 10+ years of relevant infrastructure, systems, workplace technology, endpoint engineering or technical consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing enterprise or corporate IT migrations, including dependency identification, pilots, cutover and post-migration stabilization.
- Strong hands-on Google Workspace administration and migration experience.
- Experience performing Google Workspace tenant-to-tenant migrations, including Gmail and Google Drive.
- Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM), including SSO,



SAML, OAuth/OIDC, MFA, user/group management and application federation.
- Experience configuring or migrating SaaS application SSO.
- Strong endpoint management/MDM fundamentals and experience managing corporate device lifecycles.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to independently resolve migration exceptions.
- Ability to work autonomously, identify technical risks and provide experienced technical recommendations.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.

NICE TO HAVE:

- Okta migration or decommissioning experience, including SAML applications, SCIM provisioning and application/user exports.
- Jamf Pro administration and implementation.
- Apple Business Manager, Automated Device Enrollment and Managed Apple Accounts.
- Enterprise macOS deployment and migration.
- Google Workspace as an enterprise Identity Provider.
- Windows-to-Mac endpoint migration experience.
- Previous M&A;, divestiture, carve-out or corporate separation experience.
- Endpoint security/EDR experience with CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Huntress, Jamf Protect or similar technologies.
- Google Workspace security and licensing experience.
- Scripting or automation experience supporting migrations.
- Working knowledge of DNS and email-routing technologies including MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC.

PAY RATE:

$105–$120/hour, commensurate with experience and overall alignment with the engagement.
