Our team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of engineering and project execution, and we are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Piping Designer (Lead) who is eager to teach and grow within our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have a background in designing and drafting engineering projects in addition to providing design and drafting administration support, is a proactive problem solver, and is always ready to take on various tasks and contribute to different aspects of our projects.

In conjunction with the Facility Design Lead, you will help develop the technical skills of our intermediate and junior designers in a supportive and team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead piping design execution from concept through detailed design.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and client interfaces.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
- Develop 3D models of equipment and piping systems using AutoCAD and CADWorx Plant.
- Develop and extract piping plans, sections, isometrics, plot plans, equipment layouts, and detailed piping drawings from 3D models.
- Develop drawing packages and provide design and drafting support to intermediate and junior designers, including clarification of technical questions.
- Review and approve 3D models, isometrics, layouts, drawing packages, and vendor/interdisciplinary drawings.




- Host model reviews, constructability reviews, and quality assurance activities.
- Ensure designs comply with approved project specifications, design standards, and company drafting procedures.
- Produce Navisworks publishes from 3D models.
- Prepare piping Material Take-Offs (MTOs), stress isometrics, and associated drawings.
- Coordinate and verify back-drafting requirements for piping deliverables

Technical Leadership:

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to intermediate and junior piping designers.
- Assign work, monitor progress, and provide design direction to team members.
- Conduct technical reviews and quality checks of design deliverables.
- Support project managers with resource planning, scheduling, and workload forecasting.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, client reviews, and progress reporting.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of design standards, procedures, and workflows.

Mentor Growth of Junior/Intermediate Team Members:

- Mentor and coach intermediate and junior designers in design principles, drafting practices, software utilization, and industry standards.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of design standards, procedures, and workflows.
- Foster a collaborative and team-oriented design environment.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the department.





Education / Experience Requirements:

- Engineering Design and Drafting Certificate (2-year program) from an accredited Technical Institute, or equivalent.
- 12+ years of piping design experience in oil and gas facilities.
- Plans to be or already registered with ASET as a: Certified Technician (C. Tech.), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.).
- Experience with CADWorx Plant Software (3D modeling); AutoCAD (2D and 3D drafting); Navisworks; and other associated products for engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of ASME & ANSI Codes and Industry Standards.
- Knowledgeable with piping specifications, pipe support requirements, administrative and technical practices, design instructions, plot plans, flow diagrams, and interpreting vendor information.
- Proficient with PDF Editors (e.g., BlueBeam Revu, Adobe Acrobat) and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Possess a valid Alberta Driver’s license with Clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Ability to stamp drawings is considered an asset.
