Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer / Lead with extensive QA automation experience and robust hands-on expertise in Playwright using JavaScript or TypeScript .

This is a senior, hands-on automation role supporting a large and complex benefits platform consisting of multiple web portals . The successful candidate will take ownership of automation development, working from existing requirements, test cases, documentation, and reference materials to build reliable automated test scripts.

The ideal candidate will also be able to evaluate the existing standardized automation framework, make necessary enhancements, recommend improvements, and help ensure automation deliverables are completed in line with release timelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, debug, maintain, and optimize automated test scripts using Playwright with JavaScript or TypeScript .
- Develop automation for end-to-end workflows across multiple web portals and integrated applications .
- Translate existing requirements, test cases, documentation, and reference materials into automated test scripts.
- Review the existing automation framework and enhance or customize it where required .
- Recommend improvements to the automation framework, standards, and overall automation approach.
- Develop reusable and maintainable automation components and scripts.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate test-script development and improve automation efficiency.
- Troubleshoot automation failures and perform root-cause analysis of script and framework issues.
- Integrate and execute automated test suites through CI/CD pipelines .
- Use Azure DevOps or equivalent tools for test management, defect tracking, traceability,



and automation activities.
- Support release readiness by ensuring automation coverage and scripts are completed within required timelines.
- Collaborate with QA, development, product, and other technical teams to understand application workflows, dependencies, and required test coverage.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to continuous improvement of QA automation processes and practices.

Required Experience & Skills

- 10+ years of overall QA/testing experience , with significant hands-on experience in QA automation.
- Strong and recent hands-on experience with Playwright using JavaScript and/or TypeScript .
- Strong experience creating automation test scripts from scratch , as well as modifying, debugging, and maintaining existing scripts.
- Demonstrated experience designing, building, enhancing, or customizing automation frameworks .
- Strong experience with end-to-end automation of complex web applications and web portals .
- Strong understanding of automation framework design and maintainable/reusable test automation.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD .
- Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent test/defect management tools .
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools for automation/script development is strongly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Proven ability to independently own automation deliverables and support release timelines .
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

- API automation/testing experience.
- SQL and backend validation experience.
- Experience working with large enterprise platforms with multiple integrated applications.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other QA automation engineers.
