About the Prospect

TDS Industrial Services is looking for a full-time Senior Steel Detailer, based in Surrey, B.C.

In this role, you'll work closely with our in-house team and our overseas detailing offices to model, check, and coordinate steel detailing projects from start to finish — ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clear communication between TDS, fabricators, engineers, and clients.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:





- Producing and/or checking 3D models and shop drawings in Tekla Structures to a high standard of accuracy
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to align on project goals
- Developing and monitoring project schedules in collaboration with production staff
- Identifying and reporting project risks and opportunities
- Managing and documenting project change orders
- Checking models and drawings for accuracy and quality
- Ensuring project deliverables are met on time and to standard
- Supporting the integration of fabrication technologies and standards
- Communicating effectively with overseas detailing teams and providing clear updates to all relevant internal and external stakeholders

About You

We're looking for candidates with a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on steel detailing experience, ideally including checking/QC experience. This is a technical, detailing-first role — if you've spent years in Tekla modeling steel structures and are ready to take the next step in your career, this is that step.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

- Knowledge of steel detailing standards and practices for CISC & AISC
- Experience with Tekla Structures




- Understanding of fabrication technologies
- Experience coordinating with overseas detailers
- Track record of managing change orders and communicating updates effectively
- Ability to assess project risks and opportunities
- Understanding of CNC file formats and BIM-ready model outputs
