The Big Picture

Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Associate will be an integral part of the KF Matheson family office tax team. This role is ideal for a tax professional currently working in a public accounting firm's Private Client Services group or a comparable tax practice who is looking to move beyond traditional client service work and become deeply involved in the tax planning and compliance affairs of a sophisticated family office.

Your Impact The person in this role will work closely with the Senior Tax Manager to support the tax compliance, planning, and advisory needs of the family office, its shareholders, trusts, foundations, and related holding and operating companies. This role provides significant exposure to private client taxation, estate and trust structures, and CCPC tax planning.

Specifically, the responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with the preparation of personal income tax returns and trust income tax returns.
- Assisting with the preparation of corporate income tax returns for investment holding, and operating entities.
- Supporting tax planning initiatives for shareholders, trusts and private corporations.
- Assisting with capital dividend account (CDA) planning, shareholder distribution planning, and other high net worth tax planning strategies, including estate, succession and wealth transfer planning initiatives.
- Coordinating with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and family office stakeholders on planning, compliance, and legal matters.
- Researching domestic and international tax legislation and administrative guidance and summarizing findings for the internal stakeholders.
- Preparing tax memoranda outlining tax implications and recommendations.
- Monitoring filing requirements and maintaining tax compliance calendars to ensure deadlines are met.
- Assisting with responses to tax authority inquiries, audits and information requests.
- Identifying opportunities to improve tax processes, documentation and reporting.
- Assisting with international tax planning and coordinating international tax filings.
- Gaining exposure to tax reporting, indirect taxes,



and other specialized tax matters (e.g., SR&ED;).

Your Unique Expertise Required Qualifications & Experience

- CPA designation completed or nearing completion.
- 3–5 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian personal, trust and private corporation taxation.
- Experience preparing personal, trust and corporate income tax returns.
- Strong understanding of owner-managed business structures and related tax considerations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with tax software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Completion of, or enrollment in, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program.
- Experience in Private Client Services, Estate & Trust, or High Net Worth Tax practice.
- Familiarity with estate planning, succession planning and wealth transfer strategies.
- Experience preparing tax research, memoranda or technical analyses.

This role has a base salary range of $90,000 CAD to $110,000 CAD. Final offers are determined based on individual skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors.
