SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER + CONTENT CREATOR
Full-Time | Edmonton, Alberta
Fabric + Flow is looking for a creative, organized and collaborative Social Media Manager + Content Creator to lead our day-to-day social presence and help bring our brand to life across digital channels.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both sides of content: the creative work and the planning required to make it happen.
You’ll develop ideas, create photo and video content, manage our social calendar, coordinate launches and campaigns, engage with our community, and work closely with the Fabric + Flow team to ensure our content consistently reflects the brand.
We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of their work while also recognizing that great brand content is collaborative. You should be comfortable sharing work in progress, asking questions, receiving direction and feedback, and adjusting quickly when priorities change.
ABOUT FABRIC + FLOW
Fabric + Flow is an Edmonton-based modern fabric shop, sewing studio and creative brand built around one idea:
Sew What Moves You.
We specialize in modern apparel, swim and performance fabrics, curated sewing kits, patterns, tools and hands-on sewing experiences.
Our brand is clean, modern, confident and fashion-forward, and we are building a retail and online experience designed to make sewing feel inspiring and accessible to a new generation of makers.
THE ROLE The Social Media Manager + Content Creator will own the ongoing planning, production and execution of Fabric + Flow's organic social media content.
This includes developing content ideas, creating and editing content, managing the publishing calendar, coordinating content around launches and store initiatives, monitoring performance and helping continually improve our social strategy.
You will work closely with the owner and other team members, including email, e-commerce, retail and product development, to make sure campaigns and messaging remain connected across the business.
This is not a role where projects are developed independently and handed off at the end.
We value early collaboration, visibility and communication throughout the process.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Content Creation
- Create engaging short-form video, photography, stories, reels and other social-first content
- Film and edit product, sewing, educational, behind-the-scenes and lifestyle content
- Develop creative concepts that reflect Fabric + Flow's established visual identity
- Write social captions and supporting copy in the Fabric + Flow brand voice
- Repurpose content effectively across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and other relevant platforms
- Capture content regularly within our Edmonton Fabric Studio and WORKROOM
Social Media Management
- Manage the day-to-day Fabric + Flow social media presence
- Build and maintain a structured content calendar
- Schedule and publish content consistently
- Coordinate social content with product launches, promotions, classes, events and retail initiatives
- Maintain an appropriate mix of educational, inspirational, product,
community and promotional content
- Monitor comments, messages and community engagement
- Identify opportunities to join relevant conversations and trends while keeping the brand identity intact
Planning + Project Management
- Turn larger campaigns and ideas into clear tasks, timelines and deliverables
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines at the same time
- Maintain visibility into upcoming content, work in progress and completed projects
- Communicate early when timelines, priorities or project scope need to change
- Coordinate with other team members when content requires products, photography, information, approvals or support
- Follow projects through from idea to publication rather than simply handing off a concept or system
Brand Stewardship
- Learn and consistently apply the Fabric + Flow brand identity, visual system and voice
- Work within established brand standards while finding creative ways to evolve the content
- Maintain consistency across photography, graphics, typography, messaging and presentation
- Recognize when experimentation is appropriate and when consistency matters more
Performance + Improvement
- Track social performance and identify what content is resonating
- Use results to help guide future content decisions
- Participate in regular content planning and performance reviews
- Test new formats and ideas thoughtfully rather than chasing trends for the sake of trends
- Help improve content workflows and systems in collaboration with the people who will actually use them
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR You are creative, but you are also organized.
You enjoy generating ideas, but you're equally comfortable building the plan required to execute them.
You can work independently without disappearing into a project.
You communicate what you're working on, where something stands and when you need input.
You are comfortable receiving feedback and understand that revisions are a normal part of collaborative creative work.
You can take direction while still bringing your own ideas and perspective to the table.
And when you identify a better system or process, you involve the people affected by it rather than simply creating it and expecting the team to adopt it.
YOU'LL LIKELY BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
- Are a strong team player who actively collaborates with others
- Communicate clearly and proactively
- Are self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of your work
- Welcome constructive feedback and can translate feedback into action
- Have strong creative instincts and attention to detail
- Also have a project-management mindset and enjoy keeping work organized
- Can balance several projects and changing priorities
- Are comfortable asking questions before investing significant time in the wrong direction
- Share work early enough for meaningful feedback
- Understand the difference between creative independence and working in isolation
- Care about consistency and can work within an established brand identity
- Are comfortable working in a growing small business where priorities sometimes evolve quickly
EXPERIENCE + SKILLS We're more interested in strong work and the right combination of skills than a specific degree.
Experience with several of the following would be valuable:
- Social media management
- Instagram and TikTok content creation
- Short-form video production and editing
- Photography
- Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut or similar creative tools
- Content planning and scheduling platforms
- Copywriting
- Social analytics and reporting
- Retail, fashion, sewing, textiles, lifestyle or creative brands
- Shopify or e-commerce environments
Experience with sewing is an asset, but it isn't required. An interest in fashion, making, textiles or creative retail will help you understand the Fabric + Flow customer.
HOW WE WORK
This role has significant creative ownership, but it is also highly collaborative.
We use regular planning and check-ins to make sure expectations are clear before significant time is invested in a project.
You can expect
- Clear priorities and campaign objectives
- Regular one-on-one check-ins
- Shared content planning
- Early-stage creative reviews for larger projects
- Clear deadlines and ownership
- Direct, respectful feedback
- Space to bring forward new ideas and recommendations
We don't expect someone to simply take orders. We also don't expect major creative or operational decisions to happen in isolation.
The goal is strong creative work with clear communication and alignment along the way.
