We're currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support a major industrial facility in British Columbia.

ABOUT THE ROLE In this role, you will act as the owner's representative for the Pre-FEED and FEED phases of a plant debottlenecking project at a large industrial facility. Working on behalf of the owner, you will manage the engineering contractor responsible for developing the front-end design, making sure the scope is well defined, the deliverables meet the owner's requirements, and the work stays on schedule and within budget.

You will be the owner's main point of contact with the engineering contractor, providing technical direction, reviewing deliverables, and working with operations, engineering, and project teams to align on design decisions. A key focus will be identifying critical path activities and long-lead equipment early so that procurement can begin sooner, allowing final detailed design and implementation to move faster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage the Pre-FEED and FEED scopes of the debottlenecking project on behalf of the owner, from scope definition through FEED completion
- Oversee the engineering contractor's performance, including scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and quality




- Review and provide owner comments on engineering deliverables (design basis, PFDs, P&IDs;, equipment datasheets, layouts, and cost estimates)
- Establish and monitor the project critical path, and identify long-lead items to support early procurement planning and equipment ordering
- Coordinate across operations, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and construction disciplines to align on scope and design decisions
- Develop and maintain project schedules, cost forecasts, and progress reports; track and report on variances
- Manage the project change control process and scope definition
- Identify and communicate project risks and support mitigation planning
- Support the transition from FEED into detailed design and implementation planning
- Support other smaller projects as the Pre-FEED/FEED workload allows

WHAT YOU BRING

- 15+ years of engineering and project management experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, gas processing, or other heavy industrial process environments
- Degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience); P.Eng. strongly preferred




- Direct experience overseeing engineering contractors on capital projects
- Experience with critical path development and procurement planning
- Experience with capital projects, including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling, and project controls fundamentals
- Strong technical understanding of process facilities, ideally including debottlenecking, brownfield modifications, or plant optimization
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with comfort working directly with owner, operations, and contractor teams
- Ability to work in the Vancouver area, or to travel to Vancouver periodically if working remotely

ASSETS
- Experience managing Pre-FEED and/or FEED-phase work
- Experience working on the owner's side of a project
- Familiarity with front-end loading (FEL) and stage-gate project delivery
- PMP or similar certification

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Pay: $120,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
