Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervisor/Lead Carpenter (Precast Plant) to oversee precast production from formwork build-through to finished product, ensuring quality, safety, and on-time delivery. This role leads carpentry and production teams in a plant environment, coordinates daily runs against customer orders, and partners with Plant Manager, Quality Control, batching, and logistics to deliver consistent, specification-compliant precast elements. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep formwork/mold expertise, and comfort with production planning and plant safety systems.

Duties

- Lead and supervise carpentry and production crews in the plant and yard, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to spec. There will be some hands on work involved to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Read and interpret engineering/shop drawings, piece tickets, and customer specifications to plan formwork/mold construction and production sequences.
- Partner with Plant Manager to plan daily production runs and labour assignments to meet order priorities, lead times, capacity and sequencing.
- Oversee form/mold layout, reinforcement placement coordination, embeds, and pre-pour inspections; address QC concerns with drawing issues and non-conformances.
- Enforce quality control standards for finishes, dimensions, embeds and surface checks.
- Conduct regular safety audits, morning meetings, and incident/near-miss reporting; champion plant safety programs and PPE compliance.
- Coordinate with batching/casting, curing, and finishing teams to maintain mix design standards, curing times, and release strengths.
- Assist Plant Manager in production estimating, labour planning,



and material flow optimization; track progress and maintain production logs and complete daily casting reporting.
- Maintain equipment and tooling readiness; ensure housekeeping and yard organization to reduce downtime.
- Train and mentor junior carpenters and production staff on methods, safety, and quality expectations.jobs.

Qualifications
- Proven supervisory/lead experience in precast concrete or heavy construction, with a strong background in formwork/mold carpentry and production workflows.
- Extensive hands-on experience reading engineering/shop drawings, piece tickets, and specs; detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with production planning and documentation tools (e.g., spreadsheets); familiarity with plant QC systems is an asset.
- Solid knowledge of quality control standards (dimensional checks, finish quality, embed verification) and safety protocols in an industrial plant environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high workmanship standards.
- Familiarity with budgeting/labour planning for production targets and resource allocation to optimize throughput.
- Assets: Red Seal or Journeyman Carpenter ticket, previous leadership role, forklift/loader experience, First Aid, and prior work in a certified precast plant.

Work environment
- Full time, plant-based role with indoor and outdoor yard work; physically demanding and may require extended hours during peak seasons.
- Must be comfortable operating handheld tools (vibrators, drills, etc.) and, as needed, mobile equipment (loader/forklift) following training and authorization

Pay: $30.00-$32.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 – 40.0 per week
