Northern Rockies Child Development Association (NRCDA) is seeking a caring, inclusive, and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our Early Learning and Care team. This position works directly with children to support their participation, learning, development, and inclusion within a safe and welcoming childcare environment.

The Support Worker will provide individualized and small-group support to children with additional support needs, including children who have a diagnosis or are waiting for assessment or diagnosis.

- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours of Work: 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Wage: $25.49 per hour

Key Responsibilities The Support Worker will work as part of the Early Learning and Care team to:
- Support children with additional needs to participate, learn, play, communicate, develop relationships, and build independence in everyday routines.
- Provide individualized and small-group support based on each child's strengths, goals, abilities, and identified support needs.
- Work with children who have a diagnosis or who are waiting for assessment or diagnosis.
- Use positive and developmentally appropriate strategies to support social, emotional, communication, behavioural, and self-help skills.
- Work alongside Early Childhood Educators, families, and members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Support the implementation of strategies and recommendations provided by professionals such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Pediatric Occupational Therapists, Pediatric Physiotherapists, and Behaviour Consultants.
- Observe and document children's participation and progress as required.
- Assist with adapting activities, routines, and environments so children of different abilities can participate meaningfully.
- Encourage inclusion, belonging, positive peer relationships, and participation in the childcare program.




- Maintain children's dignity, privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
- Follow NRCDA policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and childcare program expectations.

Qualifications

Applicants must be qualified to work in Canada and have one of the following educational backgrounds:

- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate;
- Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate;
- Currently working toward an ECE Certificate;
- Education Assistant (EA) Certificate; or
- Support Worker Certificate.

Applicants should also have:
- Experience working with children with support needs who have a diagnosis or are waiting for a diagnosis.
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team, such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Pediatric Occupational Therapists, Pediatric Physiotherapists, and Behaviour Consultants.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search. NRCDA will provide instructions and required paperwork.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle, if required for the position.
- Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Professionalism, integrity, reliability, and an understanding of confidentiality.
