Faculty/Department Faculty of Social Work Unit Social Work - Sessionals Employee Group URFA CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Sessional Number of Vacancies N/A Position Summary The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following live streamed via Zoom course during the Winter 2027 semester:

SW 100 – Foundations in Social Work

This course explores social issues confronting the state, social welfare agencies and social workers in addressing and responding to societal inequalities and human need. Students will also be introduced to the roles and fields of practice in social work in Canada and the values and ethics that guide the profession.

The semester class period is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

- Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
- Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
- Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
- Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
- Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Master of Social Work (MSW);
- Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
- Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours The course is offered on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 16:30 to 17:45. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach live streamed via Zoom (synchronous), be in the zoom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
