We are seeking Junior and Senior Tax Associates with experience in tax planning, corporate transactions, and/or tax litigation, with strong tax research skills and the ability to manage tax matters involving domestic, international, and cryptocurrency-related issues.

Responsibilities

- Advise on domestic and international tax planning matters.
- Research and analyze complex tax issues, including cryptocurrency-specific tax considerations.
- Review and revise corporate and international transaction documents for Canadian tax implications.
- Draft tax memoranda, step plans, corporate documents, and transaction implementation materials.
- Support tax-free rollovers, share exchanges, subscriptions, incorporations, dissolutions, and reorganizations.
- Assist with CRA audits, objections, appeals, and tax litigation.
- Draft audit responses, notices of objection, notices of appeal, discovery materials, and other litigation documents.
- Correspond with CRA representatives, clients, accountants, valuators, and external counsel.




- Review complex financial and cryptocurrency transaction records.
- Conduct tax audit and litigation risk assessments.
- Manage files, deadlines, and client communications effectively.

Qualifications

- Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, or eligible for call/transfer before starting.
- Junior Associate: 2+ years of law firm experience in tax planning, corporate transactions, and/or tax litigation.
- Senior Associate: Stronger depth of experience in tax planning, corporate transactions, tax litigation, CRA audits, objections, appeals, and/or international tax matters.
- Strong tax research skills and proficiency with TaxNet Pro and Blue J.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Solid file and deadline management abilities.
- Comfortable working directly with clients on complex tax matters.
- Ability to work collaboratively while independently managing assigned workstreams.
