Role Summary

Reporting to the Calgary Production Supervisor, the Team Lead- is responsible for front line execution of production activities during the shift. This role provides hands on leadership to operators, ensures tasks are performed safely and according to standard work, supports food safety and quality requirements, and maintains real time production tracking.

The Lead

Hand acts as the first point of coordination and escalation on the floor and supports the Supervisor in delivering daily production objectives.

Key Responsibilities

· Production Execution & Line Leadership – Lead daily production activities on assigned lines, ensure operators follow the schedule, standard work, and production instructions. Monitor live performance, manage pace, and coordinate changeovers as directed by the Supervisor.

· Live Production Tracking & Reporting – Perform real time tracking of production runs, record outputs, downtime, issues, and material usage. Complete shift reports accurately and submit before shift end. Ensure picks, schedules, and production data are correctly updated in ERP and tracking files.





· FSQA & Quality Compliance Support – Perform and verify in process quality checks, material verification (lot numbers, SKU, FIFO/FEFO), retort quality verification, and batch documentation. Identify and immediately escalate deviations or non conformances to the Supervisor and QA.

· People Coordination & On Shift Leadership – Assign daily tasks to operators, manage employee breaks to maintain continuous production, support new hires, and reinforce GMP, quality, and safety expectations. Promote teamwork and accountability on the floor.

· Safety & GMP Enforcement – Enforce PPE and safety rules, monitor safe work practices, participate in safety walkthroughs, and immediately report hazards or incidents to the Supervisor. Support investigations and corrective actions.

· Continuous Improvement & Issue Identification – Identify operational inefficiencies, waste, or recurring issues. Participate in Gemba walks, Tier meetings, and CI activities. Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

· Any other assigned duties.

Qualifications

· Minimum 2–3 years experience in a food manufacturing or production environment

· Demonstrated experience operating and coordinating production lines

· Working knowledge of:

- GMPs and food safety requirements
- Production documentation and data recording
- Material flow, picks, and consumption tracking

· Experience supporting retort or thermal processing operations (asset) Skills & Competencies





- Strong floor leadership and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate people and tasks in a fast paced environment
- High attention to detail for quality, documentation, and data accuracy
- Problem solving mindset with ability to recognize and escalate issues quickly
- Basic computer skills (ERP, production tracking files, reporting tools)

Education & Certifications

- High School Diploma required
- Food Safety / GMP training required
- Leadership, CI, or Lean training considered an asset

Working Conditions · Continuous standing and walking on production floor

· Occasional lifting, bending, and manual handling

· Food manufacturing setting with noise, temperature variation, and production equipment

· Continuous monitoring of line performance, product quality, documentation, and safety conditions

· Moderate stress associated with live production, pace management, and real time issue resolution

Shift Requirements

· Must be willing to work occasional overtime, weekends, or extended hours to support operational needs.
