Overview
Hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm (1hr unpaid break) Can be flexible with shift if needed.

Join our vibrant childcare team as a Temporary Daycare Cook, where your culinary skills will directly impact the well-being and happiness of young children. In this lively role, you will prepare nutritious, appealing meals that meet safety standards and dietary needs, ensuring a positive mealtime experience for every child. Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and prepare meals and snacks according to daily schedules and dietary/allergy requirements.
- Monitor food quality, taste, consistency, temperature, portioning, and presentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including proper cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, utensils, equipment, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Ensure proper food storage, labeling, dating, temperature control, and product rotation to minimize waste.
- Manage kitchen inventory, supplies, ordering, and relationships with food and kitchen supply vendors.
- Inspect and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure it is clean and functioning properly.
- Manage workflow efficiently while maintaining company standards, budget awareness, and consistent food quality.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with a team and managing multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and respond appropriately to allergy concerns and changing needs.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as required.
Experience
- Prior food service experience, particularly in serving children or in a daycare or school setting, is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and safety protocols aligned with local health regulations.
- Familiarity with restaurant or kitchen environments that emphasize cleanliness, efficiency, and quality control.
- Strong understanding of dietary restrictions, allergy awareness, and nutrition guidelines for young children.
- Previous experience in the food industry or similar roles that demonstrate competence in meal preparation and food safety practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3–4 years of experience as a Cook, Chef, Catering Manager, or equivalent.
- Food Safety certification and knowledge of health and sanitation standards.
- Culinary training/certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, food safety, and kitchen operations.
- Strong communication, organization, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 20 lbs.
- Caring and professional approach when working with children, families, and team members.
