Test Engineer

Salary: $70,000+ per year

SUMMARY

Our client is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to develop, implement and improve manufacturing test processes for electronic products. This role will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and customers to develop test strategies, improve test coverage and troubleshoot production issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop and implement test strategies for PCBAs and electronic systems.
- Perform Design for Testability (DFT) analysis and identify opportunities to improve test coverage and manufacturability.
- Develop and support hardware and software functional test solutions.
- Set up, validate and troubleshoot test equipment, fixtures, software and test stations.
- Support test platforms including AOI, X-Ray, ICT, Flying Probe, Boundary Scan/JTAG and Functional Test.
- Develop and maintain test procedures and documentation.
- Perform electrical failure analysis and component-level troubleshooting using schematics.
- Monitor test yields and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate false failures and non-functional test conditions.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering to resolve production defects and optimize test processes.
- Interface with customers and engineering teams to improve test coverage and resolve design issues.
- Evaluate engineering changes and update test programs as required.




- Support test equipment calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Support new product introductions, Test FMEA, Cpk and Gauge R&R; activities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to test engineers and technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of electronics or test engineering experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in an ISO 9000/9001 manufacturing workplace.
- Electronics contract manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Strong experience with DFT, functional test specifications and schematic analysis.
- Hands-on experience with LabVIEW, TestStand/CVI, C++, Python and related development tools.
- Experience with JTAG/Boundary Scan.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic hardware, power supplies and AC/DC systems.
- Strong failure analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with common EMS test platforms including AOI, X-Ray, ICT, Flying Probe and Functional Test.
- Experience with MES, CAD tools and Gerber viewers is an asset.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
